Hundreds take part in Consett’s Steel Town 20 walk as event doubles in popularity
Around 200 people took part in the 2021 Steel Town 20 in Consett at the weekend!
A County Durham town came together at the weekend as the fourth annual Steel Town 20 returned from an enforced break due to the coronavirus crisis.
Organised by Consett Hiking Group, the 20 mile walk takes in some of the most beautiful parts of North West Durham.
With hiking experiencing something of a boom in popularity during the pandemic, it’s no surprise that around 200 people took part this year.
However, the founder of the event and Consett Hiking Group, Keiron Young, hopes to make it even bigger in the future.
